“ What a wonderful experience, the menu is amazing but we selected all outside the menu because they have all the seasonal dishes, and it is such a pleasure that the owner personally tells you all the details. Tradition, respect for the product and excellent cooking joined to provide you and outstanding experience. ”
“ Best place in Barcelona! The Food is Amazing and the Workers are just the kindest. Their own recipe was really perfect. All the food was delicious, but especially lime and celery sorbet were very impressive. You must take wine recommendations. You won't regret it. ”
“ What an utter delight! Not far from the beach in Barceloneta down a quiet alley... We were the first ones there for lunch, so it was a quiet start, but the place was packed by the time we left. The staff determined immediately that we weren't fluent in Catalan and brought out the English menu. But the real treat was the owner walking us through everything - including the off-menu options. To begin with, he made it clear that their menu varies because everything is seasonal and market-fresh. Then, he pointed out all of the traditional Catalunyan dishes. If it's available when you're there, do yourself a favor and order the winter cod salad. The depth of flavor in that dish was amazing - especially for something so very simple. Cod, roe, oranges, olive oil, dried tomatoes, and micro-greens. I'll remember that dish for years. The tuna shoulder was another stand-out. The owner described it as a shoulder of tuna that's slow-cooked almost like a pork roast - so that it's falling-off-the-bone tender. When it came out, it looked so much like a roast that we had to take a second look. Only the shape of the tuna bones gave it away. It was so incredibly tender and rich, yet not heavy at all. Finally, we had the lime and celery sorbet, which I thought might be just lightly flavored with celery to offset the lime. Nope. It had a strong celery flavor that held up perfectly against the lime. Neither one fought the other, but the contrast was simply remarkable. Truly one of our favorite stops in Barcelona! ”
“ It happened to be across my hotel. They offer good selection of dish on the menu as well as off-menu selections based on the season. Everything was so delicious. I chose the off-menu selections after the owner explained the whole food and drink concept beautifully. I'm a happy customer. ”
“ Really great experience and food at La Estrella! It was recommended by a local at a clothing store and it definitely did not disappoint. They have daily “off-menu” items that use local and fresh ingredients. We had a dish similar to paella with some sort of fish and mushrooms, salted cod with tomato, and an array of desserts. Would definitely come again when I’m in Barcelona. A plus for being family-owned! ”
“ Gorgeous food with traditional recipes using the best local produce. Spotless service in an elegant atmosphere. Fantastic. We will no doubt come back ”
“ Could easily be the best restaurant I’ve ever been. The owner goes to every table and explains the menu and the whole concept of the place. Unique spirit and recipes there! Generations of hard work ethic put together so we can be lucky enough to eat there! Wines are as good as they could be for the majestic flavours of the seasonal menu. ”
“ A great dining experience with flavours that creates curiosity on the palate. Not insanely expensive, but insanely great in flavours and freshness. I would definitely recommend this restaurant any given day while in Barcelona. ”
